To all those affected by the horrific tragedy in Las Vegas,
my thoughts and prayers are with you.
1. Explore My Heritage
I am awaiting the results of my AncestryDNA test. Once I get them back, I hope to travel to every country or region that is listed. I already have one down (Italy)!
UPDATE: CHECK OUT MY BLOG POST ABOUT MY ANCESTRYDNA RESULTS HERE!
2. Travel to Other Places, Too
I don’t just want to explore my own heritage. I want to get out there and see what the rest of the world has to offer, too!
3. Become Fluent in Italian
I took a couple semesters in college, but stopped and lost my proficiency. I can currently understand it better than I speak it, but I want to be able to confidently carry on a conversation.
4. Learn Sign Language
There is a huge non-hearing population out there. I don't want to miss out on getting to know them because we can't speak to one another. It definitely has other advantages as well.
5. Splurge on a Once-in-a-Lifetime Dining Experience at Restaurant on the World’s 50 Best Restaurants list.
Most of these restaurants are ridiculously pricey, but that's why it's a once-in-a-lifetime experience. Sometimes, you just have to treat yo self, and good food is always worth it. Click the link above to see the list from 2017.
6. Eat Something That Makes Me Squirm
While I will eat a wide variety of foods, there are some things that still kinda gross me out. I want to expand my culinary horizons even further and try something new, even if I don't like it in the end.
7. Become a Wine Connoisseur and Perfect the Art of Reading a Wine List
I'm already relatively knowledgable, but it never hurts to know more. I want to be able to glance at a wine list and know what's what. Something like that is not always reflected in the price.
8. Host a Major Holiday Dinner
Thanksgiving and Christmas Eve are the two big ones in my family, so I would like to host one of those. If not, I can always throw a big, fancy holiday party (Halloween, New Year's Eve, etc).
9. Master 10 Recipes
This means knowing it backwards and forwards without looking it up on Google or in a cookbook. These recipes can be a combination of cooking, baking, and cocktail making. Yum!
10. Take a Risk and Face a Fear
Examples: Parasailing, Cliff Jumping, Bungee Jumping, Skydiving, Scuba Diving, etc. Or maybe just attending Halloween Horror Nights. *shudder*
11. Go to the Big Game
Examples: SuperBowl, Olympics, FIFA World Cup, Stanley Cup, World Series, etc.
12. Live It Up at a Multi-Day/Weekend Festival
Examples: Music - Bonnaroo, Coachella, Download, Firefly, Governors Ball, Lollapalooza, Outside Lands, Rock Fest, Rock in Rio, Rock in Roma, Rock on the Range, Sasquatch, Shiprocked, Summerfest, Summer Sonic, V Festival. Film - Berlinale, Cannes, MIFF, Sundance, TIFF, Tribeca, Venice Film Festival. Both - SXSW
13. Get Backstage/VIP Passes for a Convention
Examples: SDCC, NYCC, WonderCon, DragonCon, AnimeExpo, GeekGirlCon, D23, Comikaze/LACC, Emerald City, MCM London, Lucca, Comiket. Some smaller/more specific cons OK too!
14. Attend a World Premiere or Awards Show (and the after-party)
Walking the red carpet is preferred, but not required. As long as I get to dress up and be there!
15. Fit Into "Those Pants" and "That Dress" Again
I really want to focus on getting in shape.
16. Become Proficient in At Least One Style of Dance
Examples: pole, burlesque, aerial, hip hop, latin, ballroom, etc.
17. Become Proficient in At Least One Form of Combat
Examples: kickboxing, krav maga, mma, tai chi, weapons, etc.
18. Smile for the Camera
Once I reach a fitness/health goal, I want to do a professional photoshoot. Whether it's for headshots, a portfolio, a boudoir shoot, or just for fun doesn't matter!
19. Start a YouTube Channel
I have always wanted to start a YouTube channel and create my own content. The only issue is that I have too many ideas! I need to decide on something and start working, preferably with some friends or other creative people.
20. Act, At Least in Something Small
I want to keep that creative outlet and practice my art, even if it is more of a hobby than a career path at the moment. I can look into community theater, workshops, and showcases.
21. Write, and Work on That TV Show
Writing is another creative outlet. I want to continue developing and working on different ideas. One in particular is a TV show that I have had in my mind for years.
22. (Re)Learn to Play an Instrument
When I was younger, I was a singer and pianist. I also taught myself a couple songs on the bass guitar. I could pick those back up again, or I could learn something new. Like the drums or the ukulele.
23. Get More Body Art
I have had an idea for a second tattoo for years. I have also wanted to get my ears pierced again. Now would be the time to do it.
24. Adopt/Rescue a Pet
I love animals. Especially dogs. I miss my dogs. When I am capable, I want to adopt a pet from a rescue or shelter. They all deserve a home where they are loved.
25. Volunteer for Something I Care About
Whether its for a charity or an event, I want to consistently dedicate my time to something that I am passionate about.
26. Further My Education and/or Skill-Set
I want to take classes or courses. It could be for something I already know and want to improve on, or it can be for something completely new. This can be career-related or just for fun.
27. Ask for a Promotion or Raise
I need to know - and never underestimate - my value, especially at work. When I know that I'm deserving, I need to be confident enough to ask for what I want. Ask, and ye shall receive.
28. Start a Collection
I'm not sure what I want to collect just yet, but it should be something that I can keep forever, look bank on fond memories, and pass on to potential future generations.
29. Take Annual Girls’ Trips
My mother and her friends from grammar school go on annual trips. I want to recreate this with my friends, especially since we are all so spread out now.
30. Set Some Time Aside for Myself
I should read those books. Binge watch those shows. Unplug for a while. Take a bath. Get a massage. Basically, I need to take time to relax, reset, and recharge. That's important, too.
